Meet Marla Salezze, author of “Learn to Stitch Beaded Jewelry”
We are very excited to be hosting the second designer to visit and teach classes at our new shop — Marla Salezze! She’ll be joining us on Saturday, December 1 for an entire day of beady fun. There will be a beginner class from her book in the morning (we already have copies available for sale at the shop), a meet & greet book signing event midday, then an intermediate class in the afternoon.
We are in the process finalizing all the details of the event, so keep watching for more information very soon. In the meantime, be sure to save the date!
Our first “Off the Truck” sale at our new location
We had one of our suppliers stop by the shop late last week with a whole truck full of goodies!
- A HUGE selection of unique colors of firepolish beads that differ from our typical offerings (these are always the most popular items at our sales)
- Unique colors and finishes of tile, dagger, pip and pinch beads
- Czech glass daisy spacer beads
- Assorted loose Czech glass beads, including dragonflies and sugar skulls which disappeared very quickly the last time we got them
- Vintage German beads in antique finishes and mixed colors
We’ll be working on setting up a table tomorrow and have everything ready for shopping by Wednesday morning. Remember, with these items we always say “when it’s gone, it’s gone” so be sure to grab what catches your eye as soon as you can!
Breast Cancer Fundraiser
A HUGE thank you to all of you who donated to our October fundraiser for breast cancer patient care. We collected a total of $155 which was just given to Moffitt Cancer Center!

Laura’s Beads Annual Holiday Party
We are pleased that our friends at Stassi’s Italian Grill will be hosting our holiday party again this year on Sunday, December 16, 1:00-3:30. Small business supporting small business is always a good thing. As in past years, we will have the whole place to ourselves that afternoon to enjoy a great Italian meal and celebrate with beady friends. We will have more details and an RSVP form when it gets a bit closer.
Small Business Saturday
The Saturday after Thanksgiving for a long time has been a day dedicated to supporting small businesses in your community. However it’s important to remember small businesses all year round. In the past few years we’ve seen quite a few local bead shops close around the country as people turn to the internet for their supplies. Bead shops aren’t just retail stores, they are part of their community. We dearly appreciate those of you who continue to support our small shop and hope that you always continue to find the value in the personal service we provide. We promise to provide a fun atmosphere you’ll enjoy every day!
Plus, as a bonus, we’re excited to be hosting Marcia Balonis on that Saturday who will be teaching another class from her book! (class is full at this time and on a wait list status)
Until next time, have a sparkling week and happy beading!
