We’ve been busy little bees setting everything up at our new shop and absolutely can’t WAIT for you all to see it starting this Tuesday!

We also started to post just a few of the first classes we’ll be offering in our new classroom.  Following are details and links to sign up. We’ve heard quite a few of you mention that you are not “morning people” so we are going to now offer some Friday afternoon sessions per your request. We also have several beginner sessions on the calendar, so if you are checking us out for the first time these are perfect classes for you — plus we continue to offer our “first class is free” promotion for these sessions (with purchase of materials) — so you can’t go wrong!

We’ll continue to fill our calendar for September every chance we get, so be sure to keep watching your email and our online calendar. We will also be adding more classes that cover techniques other than bead weaving for those of you that are interested.

You can never go wrong with this stitch!

Moving Update

Follow those beads!

We cleared out of our Hudson location this morning and are very busy setting up shop in Trinity. It’s been an interesting ride so far — imagine one of the wheels coming off the seed bead case mid transit! Yes, but these are the things that make for great dinner party stories, right? Ultimately things are already starting to look beautiful at the new shop and we can’t wait for you all to see it!

Please bear with us while we get our phone situation settled — I know a few of you have tried to call and we are still working out a few snags with the call forwarding, voice mail, etc. Our Internet and email is now fully operational though, so feel free to check in with me at laura@laurasbeads.com if you have any questions.

Our new store at 7813 Mitchell Blvd in Trinity will open the day after Labor Day — Tuesday, September 4!

We do not yet have a specific date as to when classes will resume at our new shop, but once we get all settled in and things are running smoothly, we look forward to offering a full range of classes in our new, larger classroom. We will definitely keep you updated as we get closer. Also, be sure to look for more information in the coming weeks on our grand opening celebration which will be taking place on Saturday, September 29th!

We appreciate all the enthusiasm we’ve received so far and can’t wait to share this exciting new endeavor with all of you!

Until next time, have a sparkling week and happy beading!

BIG News – We are Moving!

As many of you know, we have been dreaming of moving our shop to a larger, newer space for a long time. We are absolutely thrilled to announce that it is finally happening this summer!

We found a spacious, bright contemporary space located on Mitchell Road in Trinity and have just begun the process of turning it into the new home of Laura’s Beads. You will be able to enjoy a larger, more open retail space that will allow us to continue to expand our selection of all the latest bead types to play with.

We have heard many times over the years that having a separate classroom is one of the features our beaders love about our current shop, so we made sure our new shop also has a separate classroom space. In recent months we have capped our class size at no more than 10 people, sometimes even less for beginner classes, which we will continue to do, even though the new classroom is substantially larger. We feel this will give every student a comfortable and personalized experience.

We will also have enough room to set up various “special events” for you to look forward to. We can host trunk shows featuring natural stones and pearls, bring in other artists to demonstrate and sell their work, host book signings with some of your favorite designers, and much more.

We hope to be ready to move into our new space by the end of August, but we will be sure to keep you posted every step of the way! We have lots of ideas and want to make the new space absolutely beautiful. Keep watching your email and Facebook for updates, and soon we’ll even include some teaser photos of our progress!

Until next time, have a sparkling week and happy beading!

Beadwork Magazine Circle: “Anunnaki Pendant” by Penny Dixon
Use right-angle weave, netting and a mix of Czech glass beads to form this stunning 3-dimensional pendant. The designer compares the eight-pointed star motif in the pendant to the symbol of Anu, the main god of Anunnaki; thus the unique name for this piece. We’re showing one of our samples on a chain, as suggested in the magazine, however we also stitched a tubular chenille rope to pair with our second sample. This rope will be offered as a separate class coming up, so keep watching our website for those dates!
