Events Newly Added to Calendar

Intermediate Bead-Weaving Class: Scalloped Brick Stitch Bracelet by Caravan Beads
This piece has a lot of texture and personality! You’ll be creating segments of brick stitch using different size beads, including the eye-catching large bugles, then stringing them together with an assortment of beads on bunches of strands.

Intermediate Bead-Weaving Class: Peyote with a Twist
This class was so popular last month that we couldn’t accommodate everyone who was interested, so we wanted to run some additional sessions. Developed by Gerlinde Lenz, this technique makes a rope that resembles bead crochet without all the headaches. We’ll start with “Peyote with a Twist 101” to teach you the basics of the stitch and make a simple starter design; then move on to “Peyote with a Twist 102” to teach you how to take it up a notch by stitching from a grid to make a beautiful geometric design. We warn you though — this one is very addictive!

Special Bead Circle Offering: “Diamonds in the Groove Bracelet” by Kathy Cook
Kathy Cook, the designer of this bracelet and one of our local winter beaders, has offered to teach her bracelet here at our shop and we are very excited to have that opportunity! Kathy does a lot of projects using two needles, so the focus of this session will be on how to work successfully with two needles in a cross weave technique. This particular piece uses a combination of 2-hole Tiles and GemDuos to create a fluid and contemporary looking bracelet.

Laura’s Beads “Off the Truck” Sale with additional discount!

The bead truck visited us again!

As many of you know, we are lucky enough just a couple of times a year to get a visit from our traveling vendors, and they arrive with an assortment of items and colors that we don’t usually carry here at the shop. This time we concentrated on unique colors of firepolish beads in 3mm and 4mm size. In addition we purchased a beautiful assortment of melon beads in 3mm, 4mm and for the first time, 6mm size!

We decided to run an additional discount for the first time, just for our “Off the Truck” items from this visit  — if you buy 6 items you get the 7th one free! Those of you planning on making Waterfall Pendants will definitely want to look at all these gorgeous colors of 3mm firepolish, since you’ll need 7 strands for the project.

We are wasting no time in getting these gorgeous beads into your hands, especially since we know time is running out for our snowbird beaders. You’ll definitely want to stock up on some of these to take north with you so you can have a very beady summer!

Our sale will begin tomorrow at 1:00, shortly after the conclusion our our Bead Circle

Hope to see you here!

Bead Circle Update

“Waterfall Pendant” by Mandi Bugatti, www.beadcircle.com
This pendant caught our eye immediately because it is so different from anything else we’ve done, and has such a trendy, contemporary look. You’ll be making tubes out of multiple colors of 3mm beads using prismatic right-angle weave. Continue by embellishing with seed beads and connecting with Czechmate triangles. Finish with chain and you’re done! The technique is a little tricky, but once you master it, the pendant doesn’t take long to stitch. Come join our bead circle and let us help you create one of your own!

Bead Circle Update

“Xs and Os Necklace” designed by Salli Rathburn
This necklace uses clever origami-like folds and hinges to take flat beadwork to a whole new dimension! Double triangle components enclose pearls just like hugs and kisses. We also like the occasional opportunity to finish stitched beadwork by incorporating stringing so that we can use some of the unique beads found around our shop that don’t often have a place in bead-weaving patterns.

Bead Circle Update

“Aurelia Collar” –  original design by Laura Graham; modifications by Laura’s Beads
The original version of this necklace is absolutely gorgeous, but unfortunately there were a couple of bead types that we did not carry, and some high quantities of others. Rather than give up on this beauty, we decided instead to make some modifications and create a new necklace with similar elements, but a little more accessible materials list. We are so pleased with the results! It’s elegant and surprisingly easy to stitch too. Click on the photo for details and to reserve your seat:

Classes Newly Added to Calendar

Intermediate Stitch Workshop: Flat Chenille
Flat chenille is just a little trickier than tubular chenille, but once you get the hang of the turnarounds it moves along quite nicely! It results in a sleek and smooth bracelet that feels good to wear. We’ve done samples in two different sizes so you can stitch whichever one you prefer, however we highly recommend the larger size beads for the first time you try the stitch.. Click on the photo for details and to sign up:

Beginner Stitch Workshop: Flat Even-Count Peyote
This Peyote Stitch Workshop will teach you how to stitch the flat, even-count version of this versatile technique. The beads in peyote stitch sit in a brick formation, however is is worked in a very different way from a brick stitch. For each stitch you’ll pick up a new bead and sew through the next high bead from the previous row. In this workshop you’ll be making a stylish tri-color striped cuff.
