I started beading in 2008 on a whim because I thought it would be fun to take a class with a couple of friends. I began with simple bead stringing, then was introduced to the art of bead weaving. I had no idea at the time that this would change the whole course of my life! 

A couple of years later, I opened my retail bead shop, "Laura's Beads", in west central Florida. In addition to running the store, I took on the role as the primary instructor for classes at the shop, which turned out to be the most fun and fulfilling part of my day. Eventually I began to design my own pieces and have now built up a collection of patterns that I love teaching and sharing with others. After almost 12 years, I decided to close the brick and mortar store and focus my efforts on teaching, design, creating tutorials and fully curated bead kits offered through Etsy and at various bead events.

I love supporting local bead shops and bead societies!

If you are in central or south Florida and would like me to come and teach one of my designs, please let me know. I'd be happy to find a date and design that works for your group. Or, if you are hosting an event outside of my area, I'd be happy to discuss the option of traveling.

I am beyond excited to have been invited back to teach at the Central Florida Bead Retreat in 2025! I'll be debuting the "Cosmic Ring Bracelet" this year.

This bracelet begins with a unique version of circular netting that incorporates 3-hole Trinity beads. The netting works its way around a sparkling crystal ring; not covering it, but simply enhancing it with delicate combination of seed beads and a perimeter of additional crystals. On each side of the ring you’ll create a beautiful band of components consisting of embellished Cellini stitch. They mimic the curve of the ring, while decreasing in size, which supports the ring beautifully on top of your wrist with a comfortable fit. A matching peyote toggle ties it all together. A comfort level with bead weaving and peyote stitch will guarantee success.
